We are Choice Custom Cabinetry and Design, an Amish cabinet shop based in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. Our shop is about 3.5 hours from Northern Virginia, and we build and install custom cabinetry throughout Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria, and the surrounding communities regularly.

We have been building Amish-made custom cabinets since 1979. Levi Stoltzfus founded the company in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His sons Steve and Leo run it today. Every cabinet that leaves our 20,000 square foot facility is built from solid hardwood with hand-fitted face frames, hand-cut dovetail drawer boxes, and a sprayed conversion varnish finish. We deliver and install with our own crew. No subcontractors, no middlemen.

How It Works
The Process for Northern Virginia Clients

The most common question we get from Virginia homeowners is how the logistics work when the shop is in Pennsylvania. The answer is simpler than most people expect.

Consultation: visit us or we visit you
Many Northern Virginia clients make the drive to our 6,000 square foot showroom in Honey Brook for the initial consultation. You can see the construction quality in person, handle the hardware, and look at wood samples under real light. For larger projects or homeowners who cannot make the trip, we do site visits to Northern Virginia to take measurements and assess the space directly.

Design and 3D approval
After the consultation, our design team produces detailed drawings and a 3D rendering showing exactly what the finished project will look like. All review and approvals happen remotely via email and phone. You see every cabinet before we build it. Changes at this stage cost nothing. See our how we work page for the full design process.

Production in Honey Brook
Your cabinets are built in our facility in Pennsylvania by our craftsmen. Face frames hand-fitted, dovetail drawer boxes, conversion varnish finish applied in our spray department. Full custom production takes 8 to 12 weeks. Semi-custom takes 3 to 5 weeks. We keep you updated at each stage.

Installation in Northern Virginia
Our own installation crew makes the trip to Virginia for delivery and installation. We handle scribing, leveling, crown molding, and all finish touches. The drive is factored into the project timeline and pricing. We do not use Virginia-based subcontractors. The same standards we hold in Pennsylvania apply to every installation we do in Virginia.

Wood Species and Finishes for Northern Virginia Homes

Northern Virginia homes span a wide range of architectural styles, from colonial and craftsman homes in Alexandria and Old Town to contemporary new construction in Reston and Herndon and large estate properties in McLean and Great Falls. Our material options cover all of them.

Natural Wood Finishes
White oak is our most requested species right now, particularly rift-cut with a natural or light stain. It works across contemporary and transitional styles. Painted Finishes
We paint in any Sherwin-Williams color using a conversion varnish topcoat applied in our spray facility. Painted cabinets on solid wood substrate last significantly longer than painted MDF. There is a travel cost for installation in Virginia that does not apply to local Pennsylvania projects. That cost is factored transparently into the project quote. Because we are the manufacturer and charge no dealer markup, many Virginia clients find that our total installed price for fully custom solid hardwood cabinets is competitive with what Northern Virginia showrooms charge for their semi-custom lines after markup. The travel cost is real, but the savings from working direct with the manufacturer are also real. Request a quote with your project details and we will give you a specific number.
Not necessarily, but many Virginia clients choose to visit our Honey Brook showroom because it gives them the best sense of material quality and construction standards before committing. The drive from Northern Virginia is roughly 3.5 hours. For larger projects, we offer site visits to Virginia for measurements and design consultation at no charge. All subsequent design review and approvals happen remotely.
The timeline is similar to Pennsylvania projects. Full custom production takes 8 to 12 weeks after design approval. Semi-custom takes 3 to 5 weeks. The installation day itself requires a day of travel for our crew on each side, which adds 2 days to the schedule but does not affect the production timeline. Yes. We work with architects, interior designers, and general contractors for out-of-state projects regularly. We produce detailed shop drawings and 3D renderings, work from architectural specifications, and coordinate our production and delivery schedule with the project timeline. Our installation crew does not leave until the project is complete and you are satisfied. We handle all touch-up and adjustment work on site during the installation visit. For any issues that arise after installation, we address them on a return trip for Virginia projects. In practice, because we check every cabinet before it leaves our shop and our installation crew is our own, post-installation issues are rare. Our customer reviews reflect years of this approach.
