The County
Cabinetry for Delco’s Best Streets

Delaware County holds some of the region’s most livable old towns. Media’s Victorians, Swarthmore’s academic colonials, Wallingford’s stone houses, and the estate country around Newtown Square all share one renovation truth: standard cabinet sizes were not designed for these rooms.

We are an Amish shop in Honey Brook, about thirty five minutes up Route 352, building to order since 1979. Every project is measured in person, built from solid hardwood in our shop, and installed by our own crew. County services and township information live at delcopa.gov; the cabinetry that fits those townships’ houses lives here.

We serve Media, Newtown Square, Swarthmore, Wallingford, Springfield, Broomall, Havertown, Glen Mills, and Garnet Valley, and we work daily in neighboring Chester County and along the Main Line.

“Victorian kitchens were servant spaces, so the original rooms are often small and the ceilings tall. The answer is vertical: full-height cabinetry, ladders where they earn it, light colors that lift. We have solved that room many times.”

Practical Advice
Renovating in an Old Borough

1
Respect the room’s period without museum rules
Keep proportions and trim logic period-appropriate; modernize everything behind the doors. That balance is most of good old-house design, and groups like the NKBA publish sensible planning baselines to start from.
2
Check the walk paths before the wish list
Small-borough kitchens live or die on clearances. Our island distance guide gives the numbers that decide whether an island fits at all.
3
Plan lighting with the cabinetry
In tall rooms, under-cabinet and in-cabinet lighting carries the evening. We build the chases and coordinate with your electrician before finishes close.
4
Ask where the cabinetry is actually made
Much of what sells locally is built far away and branded nearby. Ours is built in Honey Brook by the people who will install it in your house. Ask any shop the same question and watch the answer.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Honestly, it depends on more variables than any web page can price: the wood species, the finish, the door style, how much of the room is cabinetry, and the condition of the walls we are building against. Two kitchens of the same size can land far apart. We explain the methodology in our kitchen cost guide, and the fastest way to a real number is a free consultation with your measurements.
Sometimes yes, sometimes honestly no. Clearances decide. When a full island does not fit, a peninsula or a worktable-scale piece often does, and we will tell you which before you spend anything.
Yes, and we often restore or echo them. Matching a 1900s china cabinet’s profile in new lower cabinetry keeps the room coherent.
Days, not weeks. Cabinetry arrives finished, we protect the house, and the kitchen is usable each evening. Old-house dust discipline is part of the job.
All of it, from Havertown to Garnet Valley. The shop is thirty five minutes from Media, which keeps site visits and service simple.
