Why Custom
The Pantry Is Where Kitchens Win or Lose

Ask anyone who has lived with a great pantry: it changes how the whole kitchen functions. Countertops stay clear because the coffee station lives behind a pocket door. Costco runs disappear into deep drawers sized for exactly what you buy. The kitchen itself gets to be beautiful because the working storage happens somewhere purpose-built.

Stock pantry cabinets are shallow boxes with fixed shelves. A custom pantry is planned around your actual inventory, appliance garages with outlets inside, pull-outs sized to cereal boxes, wine storage, a landing counter for groceries. That planning is design work, and it is where 45 years of kitchen building pays off.

We build pantries as part of full kitchens and as standalone projects across Pennsylvania, from Lancaster to Chester County and the Philadelphia suburbs.

The butler’s pantry is back: a counter-height run between kitchen and dining, coffee, bar, staging for dinners, is the single most requested addition in our larger projects this year.

Formats
Three Pantries We Build Most

Full-Height Pantry Wall
A bank of floor-to-ceiling cabinets inside the kitchen itself, pull-out interiors, appliance garage, everything behind doors. The approach from our floor-to-ceiling guide applied to storage.
Butler’s Pantry
A passage or alcove between kitchen and dining fitted with counters, uppers, and often a sink or beverage fridge. Doubles as coffee station and party staging.
Walk-In Pantry Fit-Out
Open shelving, drawer banks, and counters inside a dedicated room. Cheaper per foot than kitchen cabinetry and transformative for households that cook.
Corner & Odd-Space Pantries
Awkward corners turned into working storage with the hardware tricks from our corner storage guide.

Details
The Interior Fittings That Earn Their Keep

1
Deep drawers over low shelves
Below counter height, drawers beat shelves every time, you see everything from above instead of losing cans in the dark. We size them to what you actually store.
2
Appliance garage with power
Toaster, coffee maker, and mixer live plugged-in behind a lift door or pocket doors. Countertops stay clear permanently.
3
Adjustable everything above
Package sizes change; shelf pins should too. Uppers get adjustable shelving on close spacing as standard.
4
Landing counter
Fifteen inches of counter inside the pantry, for grocery bags, the crockpot, staging, is worth more than another shelf. Almost every pantry we design gets one.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Pantry walls inside the kitchen run like premium cabinetry, roughly $1,000 to 1,400 per linear foot built and installed. Walk-in fit-outs are lighter: most land between $4,000 and $15,000 total. Butler’s pantries with counters and uppers typically run $8,000 to $25,000. Full numbers in our pantry cost guide.
Yes, matching an existing kitchen’s finish or deliberately contrasting it are both common. A pantry is one of the highest-impact single additions we build.
No, but a small sink or beverage fridge multiplies usefulness. We design around your existing utilities and coordinate with your contractor if you add them.
Both, in the right places, drawers below shoulder height, adjustable shelves above, counters where things land. That layout logic is most of what you are paying a designer for.
Standalone pantries typically run 6 to 10 weeks from approved drawings to installation, shorter than a full kitchen because the scope is contained.
