Why We’re Transparent
We’ll Tell You What Others Won’t

The most common question we get before a consultation is “how much is this going to cost?” It is a fair question, and most cabinet companies avoid answering it directly. We are going to answer it directly.

We have been building custom cabinetry in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania since 1979. We know what our projects cost, what drives the price up or down, and where the money goes. This page gives you real numbers so you can walk into a consultation knowing what to expect.

One honest note first: no two projects cost the same. A kitchen in a 200-year-old farmhouse in Lancaster County with non-standard ceiling heights costs more than a straightforward run in a new build in Exton. But the factors that drive cost are consistent and predictable — we walk through all of them here.

What Moves the Price
Five Things That Drive Cost
1
Wood species and construction method
The single biggest variable. Paint-grade poplar costs the least. Rift-cut white oak and walnut cost the most. Every project uses solid hardwood throughout — we do not build with MDF fronts or particleboard boxes. See our white oak kitchen guide for how species choice affects the result.
2
Door style: full overlay, inset, raised panel
Inset doors add roughly 15 to 25 percent to door cost but produce a result that looks like furniture rather than a box with doors. Raised panel profiles cost more than shaker or slab. Browse our door styles page before your consultation.
3
Kitchen size and layout complexity
Each inside corner adds time and cost. Islands, pantry columns, blind corner solutions, appliance garages — every specialty cabinet adds material and labor. Our floor-to-ceiling guide covers ceiling height considerations in detail.
4
Finish specification and hardware
Complex finishes like glazed, cerused, or wire-brushed take more production time. A kitchen with 40 doors at $8 per pull costs $320 in hardware. The same kitchen at $35 per pull costs $1,400. Hardware costs scale with quantity.
5
Installation complexity
In older homes across Lancaster County and Chester County, walls are not plumb, floors are not level, ceiling heights vary. Scribing and leveling correctly takes time. Rushing it produces a kitchen that looks slightly off in ways people feel but cannot name.

Why It Costs More
Amish-Made vs. Big Box: Where the Money Goes

Stock cabinets from a home improvement store might cost $3,000 to $8,000 installed. A custom kitchen from us costs three to five times more. Here is exactly where that difference lives.

Stock / Big Box
Particleboard boxes — swells with moisture
Stapled drawer corners — limited lifespan
Standard sizes with filler strips at walls
Brushed-on finish with visible grain raise
Typical lifespan: 10 to 15 years
Choice Custom Cabinetry
Solid hardwood and plywood throughout
Dovetail drawer boxes — structurally permanent
Built to your room’s exact dimensions
Sprayed conversion varnish from our facility
Typical lifespan: 30 to 50+ years

A custom kitchen installed in 2026 will likely still be in your home in 2056. A stock kitchen installed in 2026 will likely need replacing by 2036. Amortized over the real life of the product, the price difference often inverts. Read more about our construction standards here.

We are competitive with other quality Amish cabinet makers in Lancaster and Chester County. More expensive than semi-custom dealers or big-box programs. Typically less expensive than high-end design-build firms in the Philadelphia suburbs who mark up manufactured cabinets. The key: we are the manufacturer, so there is no dealer markup on top of our production cost.
Yes, with the understanding that it will be rough. Share your room dimensions and a general sense of style and materials and we can give a ballpark range over the phone. Call (610) 273-2907 or use our online quote form.
Yes. Our quotes are complete installed prices. Design, materials, production, finishing, delivery, and installation by our own crew are all included. We do not separate installation as a line item — responsibility for fit and finish issues needs to stay in one place.
We structure payments as a deposit at design approval, a progress payment at production completion, and a final payment at installation. We do not require full payment upfront. All terms are spelled out clearly in the project agreement before anything begins.
For a full custom kitchen, start the design conversation at least 4 to 6 months before your target completion date. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks after design approval and you will want time before that for design iterations and material selections. We coordinate our timeline with your contractor for broader renovations.
Yes. We build and install across all of southeastern and central Pennsylvania including Lancaster County, Chester County, Berks County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, York, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia. We also serve clients in Maryland and New Jersey for larger projects.
